dartford team on the road to success

The Dartford branch of Europa Road is reporting a record-breaking start to 2017 with consignment growth increasing by 16 per cent compared to quarter one last year.

This success coincides with Europa’s 50th birthday celebration and also with the second anniversary of it’s move to its 1hub facility in Dartford. The opening of the £30 million 26,368m2 site at Albion Road greatly enhanced Europa’s road services, enabling the team to operate more effectively and to achieve double digit growth throughout the network for the past two years.

Paul Melanaphy, Branch Manager for Dartford’s Road team since 2014, said; “Europa’s 1hub facility has done what it was forecast to do; not only has it increased our ability to handle more business in terms of obvious volume, but it also allows us to handle individual items more efficiently.  Our service portfolio has grown significantly with the inclusion new daily direct services and additional departures on some existing routes.”

The effectiveness of 1hub’s simple centralising concept, meaning all of Europa Road’s 11 branches trunk directly into one site, has been further enhanced by the introduction of LeoRoad last summer, the first phase of Europa’s bespoke £1.7m IT investment, Leonardo.

LeoRoad includes real time operation monitoring of shipments, discrepancy management, workflow management, and proactive customer and partner daily reporting.

Paul continued: “LeoRoad has transformed our sales operation, enabling us to be completely transparent with our customers about the progress of their shipments. Although we are dealing with more freight, we are physically handling it much less, which greatly minimises the risk of damage to goods. We are currently dealing with 40 per cent more freight than three years ago and that looks to increase even further as LeoRoad continues to work hard for us.”

As well as this boost in consignments, the Dartford Road team has achieved an 18 per cent increase in revenue in quarter one of 2017 compared to last year. The team of 22 have seen particular growth in the automotive and fashion sectors.

These impressive developments mean that the team is looking to expand and has recently recruited a new Senior Account Manager, with plans for two more in the coming months.

Paul commented: “We’ve enjoyed brilliant progress over the past two years and introducing new talent into our team will be key to keeping up this success. It’s great to be able to expand our team at this rate and to welcome them to a fresh approach and working environment’

“Our plan is to continue this rate of consignment growth whilst strengthening our European partner network to help Europa’s Road division in its ambition to become the market leader for the distribution of goods between the UK and Europe by 2018. Our team is stronger than ever and we look forward to expanding even further in the coming months.”
